Flood maps

The flood maps are used to assess the likelihood of flood occurrence throughout the Czech Republic. Czech Insurance Association members use the system to evaluate insurance risks and to calculate property insurance premiums. By determining if your property is situated within or outside a flood zone you can get important information about your insurance options as it indicates a possible premium increase.The system of flood risk zones was developed by Czech Insurance Association in cooperation with Intermap Technologies in 2002-2003 in order to assess the risk of flooding by Czech Insurance Association members. The flood maps were devised with a contribution by the global reinsurer Swiss Re. Map data are regularly updated to be consistent with the information used by Czech Insurance Association members. The system is operated by Intermap Technologies, s.r.o.

Calculator of minimum insured value of real property and calculator of minimum insured value of home contents

The former is intended to determine the minimum insured value for real property at a new price. The new price is the price required to build new property of the same type, size and quality. The latter is intended to determine the minimum insured value for household and personal effects at a new price. The new price is the price required to purchase household equipment and personal items of the same or a comparable type and quality. The sum insured (maximum amount of the insurance claim) set in the insurance contract should at least correspond to the calculated insured value. If the sum insured is lower than the insured value of property, the insured property is most likely underinsured. In case of an insured event the payment of claim would not fully cover the incurred damage. Only a sum insured that has been set properly can guarantee sufficient insurance protection.

The calculation may differ from the exact calculation of real property value provided by a forensic expert and from calculations performed by insurance companies. The calculator computes minimum insured value of conventional real property. Any nonstandard building component increases the value. The insured value of premium and luxury property may be several times higher.
